Some of Florida’s biggest politicians have continued to raise big money in December for political action committees that they control.
Since the start of the month, special interest groups have dropped $800,000 into the 10 biggest political action committees controlled by the governor, state House members, and key state senators.
Politicians are limited in how much money they can raise for their traditional campaign accounts. But many elected officials have created political action committees that have no limit on the size of a donation that a person can raise, though there are added restrictions on how the money can be used.
No one has raised more money in 2015 for a political action committee than Gov. Rick Scott. His Let’s Get to Work committee has raised almost $100,000 in December so far. That gives him almost $4.4 million raised in 2015 – tops among any political committee run by a politician in Florida.
