More than one-third of the House races were affected by the qualifying period which ended June 24.
House District 4 — Christopher Eugene Schwantz joined the race as a write-in, closing the crowded Republican primary to GOP voters.
House District 8 — NPA Richard Burns did not qualify for House District 8. Frantz Millien joined the race a write-in, keeping the crowded Democratic primary closed to party members.
House District 11 — Republican Tom Taylor, decided to run instead for the Jacksonville Beach City Council, where he previously served until 2014, according to FloridaPolitics.com. Walter Eugene Haynes filed as a write-in and will close the Republican primary.
House District 12 — Republican Stan Jordan joined the race for HD 12 though he does not live in the district, according to FloridaPolitics.com. Jerry B. Steckloff joined as well but as a write-in, closing the GOP primary.
House District 13 — Republican Darren Gardner, who was planning a run for Reggie Fullwood‘s seat in House District 13, will instead swing his support behind Pastor Mark Griffin, according to FloridaPolitics.com. Republican Daniel A. Evans failed to qualify for the seat.
House District 15 — Timothy S. Glidden has filed as a write-in against Rep. Jay Fant, R-Jacksonville, for the November election.
House District 16 — George Doran, a write-in, has joined the HD 16 race and closed the Republican primary between Jason Fischer and Dick Kravitz.
House District 19 — Charles F.N. Lowe Jr. and Thomas Sterling Mayerlen joined the race as write-ins.
House District 21 — Ryan Thomas Dyson and Richard Allen Swilley joined the HD 21 race as write-ins.
House District 22 — Republican Al Macri, a former firefighter, has filed against Rep. Charlie Stone, R-Ocala.
House District 27 — NPA Randi Doan failed to qualify, leaving Republican Rep. David Santiago and Democrat Robert Mann in the race.
House District 28 — Democrat Julia Coakley and Libertarian Franklin Perez failed to qualify for HD 28.
House District 31 — Republican Theo Bob has filed to challenge Rep. Jennifer Sullivan, R-Mount Dora. The winner will face NPA Robert Rightmyer.
House District 32 — NPA Tommy Hayfield failed to qualify, which sends Rep. Larry Metz, R-Yalaha, back to the Florida House.
House District 36 — Republican Amber Mariano redesignated from House District 49 in Orlando to challenge Rep. Amanda Murphy, D-New Port Richey, in House District 36.
House District 37 — The man slated to be the next Speaker of the Florida House will return to his seat next year. Rep. Richard Corcoran, R- Land O’ Lakes, was the only person to qualify for his House seat Friday, according to FloridaPolitics.com.
House District 43 — Write-in Gilbert A Soule filed for HD 43 and closed the three-way Democratic primary.
House District 46 — Treminasha Holmes filed as a write-in and closed the Democratic primary between Rep. Bruce Antone and Sheena Meade.
House District 49 — Republican Martin Collins did not qualify. Amber Mariano redesignated to House District 36.
House District 50 — NPA Tiffany Dziekan and Republican Chadwick Hardee failed to qualify for House District 50.
House District 52 — Write-in Edward Bollinger joined the HD 52 race and closed the four-way Republican primary.
House District 54 — Write-in James Christian Bailey joined the race and closed the four-way Republican primary.
House District 55 — Democrat Tony Munnings failed to qualify so Rep. Cary Pigman, R-Avon Park, is headed back to the Florida House.
House District 60 — NPA John F. Lingelbach did not qualify for HD 60.
House District 63 — The House District 63 race between Lisa Montelione and Mike Reedy ended Friday when Reedy dropped out of the contest, according to FloridaPolitics.com. Montelione will now concentrate all of her energies on defeating GOP incumbent Shawn Harrison.
House District 70 — Pastor Manuel Sykes announced recently he was a candidate in the House District 70 race that covers parts of Hillsborough, Pinellas, Manatee and Sarasota counties, with the vast majority of the district’s voters living in Pinellas. However, Sykes did not qualify for the ballot, according to FloridaPolitics.com.
House District 79 — NPA Matt Miller has joined the House District 79 race featuring Republican Rep. Matt Caldwell and Democrat John Scott.
House District 80 — Anthony Joseph Cetrangelo Jr. has joined the race as a write-in and closed the Republican primary.
House District 85 — Republican Michael Peragine did not qualify for the House District 85 election.
House District 87 — Daniel N. Perez filed as a write-in and closed the Democratic primary.
House District 88 — Write-in Sebrina Gillion joined the HD 88 race and closed the Democratic primary.
House District 89 — State Senate candidate Michael Steinger’s law partner Gary Iscoe filed for the state House but did not qualify. Neither did Democrat Nichole Cyr. Republican Rep. Bill Hager is headed back to the Florida House.
House District 90 — Libertarian Artie Lurie will challenge Democratic Rep. Lori Berman in the general election, says examiner.com.
House District 91 — Kelley Howell filed as a write-in, closing the Democratic primary between Emily Slosberg and Kelly Skidmore.
House District 104 — Republican Oscar Ganem has filed against Democratic Rep. Richard Stark for House District 104. Ganem is a former senator from his home country of Venezuela before his exile for opposition to the communist regime, according to his biography. He has since worked as a legal assistant for personal injury law firms.
House District 105 — Republican Victor Dotres withdrew from the House District 105 race and Democrat Patricio Morena joined the race.
House District 106 — NPA Brandon Smith did not qualify. Republican Nick Ballo, a law student at Florida International University, joined the race. Connor Maguire joined the race as a write-in, closing the three-way Republican primary.
House District 108 — Democrat Robert Malone failed to qualify for the very crowded Democratic primary.
House District 110 — Carlos A. Puentes Sr. has filed as a Democrat against Republican Rep. Jose Oliva.
House District 111 — Democrat Sevi Miyar has filed against Republican Rep. Bryan Avila for House District 111.
House District 113 — Democrat Deed Weithorn has withdrawn from the House District 113 race.
House District 114 — Republican Jose Pazos did not qualify for the race.
House District 115 — NPA Susie Lamigueiro failed to qualify.
House District 116 — Democrat Heath Rassner, an FIU student, has filed against Republican Rep. Jose Felix Diaz for HD 116. He initially filed against Republican Rep. Jeanette Nunez in HD 119.
House District 117 — NPA Patricia Agosto failed to qualify, sending Democratic Rep. Kionne McGhee back to the Florida House.
House District 118 — NPA Arthur Sosa failed to qualify for the seat.
House District 119 — Democrat Jeniffer Pinell has filed against Rep. Jeanette Nunez. Democrat Health Rassner has transferred to HD 116.
